El Proyecto de Mi Inmigrante
For this project, our goal was to have a better understanding of the past tense, mainly focusing on imperfecto and pretérito. We were also focusing on digging back into our family history, figuring out who they are and where they lived. The person I did for my project is named Newt Bond. I dug and dug but I couldn't find any immigrants in my family, so I made Newt up. This project definitely made me think about how to conjugate words correctly, and it helped me get hands on, so I enjoyed it.

La CalaveraThese two projects were about Día de Los Muertos (Day of the dead). Día de Los Muertos is a celebration of those who have passed by setting up alters and offering food, flowers, and whatever the fallen was interested in. They use special flowers called Marigolds, which are considered flowers of the dead, due to the Aztecan traditions and the beliefs that they allow the dead to cross over. It is celebrated in most Latin American areas.
The first project was our La Calavera project, where we had to create a little ironic "poem" about someone of our choosing, dead or alive. We had to incorporate a skeleton to accompany our poem as well. I used Harry Potter in my poem, so I had to use my imagination and come up with a reason why he had died, so I decided that when he swallowed the golden finch while playing quidditch, he choked and died on it. This project was quite enjoyable, and I recommend it for future classes. |
La ObituarioFor the La Obituario project, we did our own mural for those who have died. It didn't matter if they were a person or even a pet, they just had to have passed away. For my project, I did Michael Jackson. We explained what the person did, and just the general idea of what they had accomplished while they were alive, such as their spouse or children. This project helped us learn what the Latin American areas did every Dia de Los Muertos, and helped us learn more basic words. Since we created these for a mural, everyone made at least one "marigold" flower out of tissue paper and pipe cleaners, and printed their picture. I enjoyed this project, as I got to do someone that I liked, and could say what I wanted.
